WORKSHOPS
I’m heading back to Midway Utah for a 2-Day Gouache Workshop! We’ll explore the versatile medium of gouache in both indoor and outdoor settings. This workshop is for the very beginner or those familiar with the medium yet seeking more guidance.
We’ll focus how to create depth and dimension in your gouache paintings through accurate value control. How manipulating saturation can help depict the brilliancy of the natural world, and improve confidence with the medium by focusing on techniques such as layering, wet & wet washes, dry brushing, glazing and palette knife painting to capture the texture and feel of the Plein Air environment.
This indoor / studio workshop will focus on unleashing creativity through iteration and exploration for the landscape painter. We’ll cover how to use plein air sketches and field studies as reference points for creative exploration. How to leverage photography and digital editing tools to develop ideas. We’ll analyze the works of master landscape painters and understand what we can glean from their artistic decisions which will in turn influence our own creative path and style. We will learn to embrace multiple avenues for study thus enhancing understanding and pushing our creative boundaries.
