Summer Greetings!

One of my favorite parts of summer is the slower rhythm of our mornings! Instead of rushing the kids out the door for school, I step onto our backyard patio and settle into cozy blanket amongst the cool morning air.  With a mug of sugar-free hot chocolate in hand, I close my eyes, listen to the wind rustle through the leaves, and enjoy the birds chirping overhead. It's a slower pace, a restorative moment, and one of the best ways I can begin my day! I hope you find restorative moments of your own this summer.

Power point presentation of “The Art of Artistical Planning” workshop

Earlier this month, I wrapped up The Art of Artistic Planning workshop. Organization and idea-gathering strategies designed to help artists stay focused, build momentum, and make steady progress toward their goals were shared. If you missed it, the recording is now available for purchase here!

Accepted to AIS National Show!

“View from Turquoise Waters” 14×14 Gouache

I'm thrilled to announce "View From Turquoise Waters" was juried into the American Impressionist Society’s national show in Bend, Oregon! The exhibition will feature 180 works created by some of the nation's finest impressionist artists. I consider it a tremendous privilege to be included. This year, the AIS received 1,550 entries for jury consideration, resulting in just a 12% acceptance rate.

Now it's right back to the drawing board while I work on two family commissions. As mentioned during my workshop, painting is much like assembling a 1,000-piece puzzle—countless small decisions come together to create the finished work. By following the same principles I teach, I'm carefully dissecting the elements and principles of painting —allowing each part to be refined and strengthened before bringing everything back together to support the overall concept!

My sketchbook - a place where creative planning and artistic problem-solving are actively at work!

As summer unfolds It is a privilege to share my artistic journey with you, and I look forward to bringing more paintings, insights, and behind-the-scenes glimpses from the studio your way in the months ahead.

Cheers!

Allie
