I’m knee deep in preparing for the Sacred Spaces: Visions of the West from the Prosaic to the Sublime show this May! It’s an incredibly exciting journey, though a bit daunting! Here’s a glimpse into my process:
I am currently deep in preparation for an upcoming museum exhibition in May with The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho titled Sacred Spaces: Visions of the West from the Prosaic to the Sublime. I am honored to be showcasing my work alongside five celebrated artists: David Dibble, Bryan Mark Taylor, Josh Clare, Louisa Lorenz, and Carson Thompson.
As the year draws to a close, I want to share my heartfelt thanks for your continued support! Sharing ideas, processes, paintings, and tools of the trade with you brings me joy. I sincerely hope it’s deepened an understanding of your worth as an artist or collector.
As November settles in, I feel a deep sense of thankfulness for art. Observing the changing landscape helps me hold onto these fleeting in-between moments: the last light on cottonwoods before winter, a quiet barn after harvest, or a sky that can’t decide if it’s autumn or snow season.
This month I’m in the very first stages of new painting ideas. The golden rabbit brush is at a peak here in the Treasure Valley and I’m on a mission to capture it!
What an honor to take part once again in such a prestigious gathering of artists, collectors, and art enthusiasts! I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the opportunity to stand alongside so many talented individuals in Jackson, Wyoming!
A few weeks ago, I traded the comfort of my studio for the wild beauty of Idaho’s high mountains for a week of plein air exploration. With gouache paints, a backpack full of gear, and two of our kids in tow plus a well trusted babysitter, what I discovered — about the landscape, the medium, and myself — was worth every step!
I’m so excited to be writing to you from Blue Lake, just outside Cascade, Idaho. July is peak plein air season here in Idaho, and this painting trip is all about practice and figuring out my plein air gouache process.
Hello fellow art enthusiast! Happy “May-Cember!” Huh? “May-Cember…what’s that?”
It’s a coined phrase that sums up perfectly the hustle and bustle felt in the month of December yet experienced in the month of May.
Hello fellow art enthusiasts! This month, I've been diving deep into the captivating landscapes of Edgar Payne, particularly his masterful use of blue to create atmospheric depth.
I'm excited to pull back the curtain a bit this month and share some of my favorite tools and products that make my small studio such a productive and inspiring space. These are the things I reach for day in and day out, and I hope you find some inspiration for your own creative haven!
In nature, winter signals the end of a long productive year. As an artist, I can relate.
January can also bring a clean slate and with it, as in past years, a moment of internal dialog, “Well, what do I paint now?”
I am deeply grateful for your continued support this past year! Whether you’ve collected a painting, attended a workshop, or simply followed along on my artistic journey, your encouragement means the world to me!
What an honor to take part once again in such a prestigious gathering of artists, collectors, and art enthusiasts! I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the opportunity to stand alongside so many talented individuals in Jackson, Wyoming.
